The times they are a changing

In my last blog entry I offered this painting as a work in progress. It went through more extra steps than I thought, and here is the finished painting (currently at the framers).

In Richmond city, Robert E. and horsey still trot above his graffiti covered pedestal awaiting various legal stuff to conclude so that the crane and workers can initiate his journey somewhere else. Most of all the other confederate statues have been removed. Their pedestals still stand. Whatever, if anything, shall replace them on the streets of the city is yet to be planned. And that itself is so much less important than so many other real changes to be made. Patience...

This living history continues to intrigue me as a subject for my paintings. Since 2020 shapes up as the strangest year of everybody's life, this in progress watercolor depicting Stonewall Jackson's statue's removal (with face mask) will likely be titled "RVA 2020.*" I'll probably share it here when it's finished.

*For you out-of-towners, "RVA" is the local moniker for Richmond.
